Dr. Mark Schlam


Dr. Mark Schlam Dr. Schlam feels lucky to be a part of the Light Dental Studios team. He is from Lexington, MA and completed his undergraduate studies at Yale University where he majored in History of Science/History of Medicine and was a 4-year letterman on the varsity lacrosse team. Prior to starting his dental training, Dr. Schlam worked as an EMT and scholastic tutor in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Schlam obtained his doctorate from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Army. In dental school, he served as an academic tutor, teaching assistant, and BLS instructor. At Tufts, Dr. Schlam also pursued his passions of medicine and surgery and was honored with the H. Chris Doku Award, Distinguished Professor Scholarship for Oral Surgery, and The Robert E. O’Neil, D51, Prize in Oral Surgery. Dr. Schlam was selected to participate on a mission trip, where he traveled to rural regions of the Dominican Republic and provided surgical services to the local communities.

After dental school, Dr. Schlam became an active-duty Army officer and completed a 4-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC. Dr. Schlam trained extensively in facial reconstruction and dental implant therapy, anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, cosmetic surgery, and trauma. He has a special interest in full arch rehabilitation and enjoys working closely with his prosthodontic and restorative colleagues.

Dr. Schlam places patient safety and comfort as his top priorities and strives to ensure a positive experience for all surgical patients at Light Dental Studios. He is excited to add to the tradition of excellence currently established by the growing team and looks forward to serving the community of the Puget Sound and beyond.

In his free time, Dr. Schlam enjoys exploring Washington with his wife and baby daughter, finding new places to surf, mountain bike, and race triathlons.
