Dr. Monty Tolman
Dr. Tolman was born and raised in upstate New York, near Jamestown and he received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery with honors in Periodontology from the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, New York. After dental school he completed specialty training in periodontics at the University of Washington in Seattle and moved to Olympia, Washington where his practice has been a pillar of periodontics for the past 40 years.
Dr. Tolman is the founder and mentor of the South Sound Dental Study Club and a leader in coordinating continuing education in our region. He has also been honored as one of America’s Best Dentists for twelve years.
He has devoted his career to all aspects of periodontal practice with special emphasis on dental implants, root coverage procedures, aesthetic periodontics, and regenerative therapy. To keep abreast of the latest developments in periodontics and implantology, he has always exceed the continuing education requirements of the State of Washington. He is known as a leader in developing conservative implant protocols in the anterior (cosmetic/front teeth) zone, most notably in providing immediate implants and by employing incision-free protocols.
Dr. Tolman has presented numerous lectures on all aspects of periodontics and dental implantology at the South Sound Study Club and has brought in national and internationally acclaimed speakers who have presented on all aspects of implant prosthetics and complex treatment planning. He has also also been a speaker for the Washington State Dental Association on Aesthetic Periodontics.
When not in the office his greatest joy is spending time with his beautiful wife, Cynthia. He also enjoys playing baseball, bicycling, weight lifting, snow skiing, reading, and kayaking. He loves living in the beautiful Northwest!
