Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Caroline Corbett

Caroline Corbett Dr. Caroline Corbett is very excited to be a part of the Light Dental Studios team. She grew up in the border town of El Paso, Texas. For her undergraduate studies, she took her cowboy boots to North Carolina, where she attended Davidson College and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. During her four years at Davidson, she played Division I Volleyball, served as the team captain, and earned three consecutive All-Conference Honors in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

After graduating from Davidson, Dr. Corbett went to work as the assistant volleyball coach at Georgia College. As a past collegiate student-athlete and collegiate coach, Dr. Corbett understands the importance of dedication, teamwork, and how these attributes directly translate into the dental setting.

Dr. Corbett graduated from the University of Texas (UT) Health San Antonio School of Dentistry with a Distinction in Dental Education. During her four years at UT Health, she had the opportunity to serve as a student leader and volunteer for the San Antonio Refugee Health Clinic and the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA). With CMDA, she helped establish daily mobile clinics and provide dental care to underserved populations. She participated in South Texas and border dental mission trips and travelled abroad in 2015, 2017, and 2019 to provide dental care to the people of the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Corbett believes in patient-centered care and has a heart for serving others and giving back to the community. She is committed to continuing this throughout her dental career.

When not practicing dentistry, she enjoys music, swimming, skiing, hiking, travelling, and spending time with her husband Michael, who serves in the United States Army.

Dr. Virginia Bautista

Dr. Virginia Bautista Dr. Virginia Bautista is so happy to be a part of Light Dental Studios. She was born in the United States and went to live in Guatemala with her family as a child. Dr. Bautista moved back to the United States after practicing general dentistry for 26 years in her private office. She decided to pursue a professional career here when her children expressed their desire to attend college in the states.

Dr. Bautista earned both her bachelor in science degree and dental degree at Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala City, Guatemala. After graduating from dental school she was invited to take faculty positions at the undergraduate periodontics and pediatric dentistry departments. Her graduation thesis was used for several years as a reference booklet for the TMJ class matter.

Underserved populations hold a special place in Dr. Bautista's heart and she participated in different community projects, including projects she led along with the government to provide meals for children in public schools and daycares. She helped establish mobile clinics in disadvantaged areas in her city and provided dental care to these populations around the country. She participated in dental mission trips with the craniofacial team of MacAllen, Texas with which she traveled to rural areas in the mountains of Guatemala to provide cleft lip and palate surgeries to young children in need. Dr. Bautista also volunteered in the operation room of a charity hospital, providing dental care for patients with special needs under general anesthesia. Dr. Bautista participated in the Guatemalan Dental Society as part of the Board of Directors, where she served several years.

After moving back to the United States, Dr. Bautista received a specialty certificate and a Master's Degree in Orofacial Pain and TMD at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Her graduation research thesis in laser treatment for the osteoarthritis of the TMJ was recently accepted for publication in the Indian Journal of Rheumatology. In her free time, Dr. Bautista enjoys spending quality time with her family and her two dogs. She enjoys exploring the outdoors, going to the gym, and spending time with friends. Dr. Bautista believes in providing exceptional patient care in a compassionate and supportive environment.

Dr. Rex de Asis

Dr. Rex de Asis Dr. Rex de Asis has been practicing General Dentistry for more than 25 years and brings this history and expert experience to his patients. Dr. de Asis has a dual dental degree with his first as a DMD graduate from Centro Escolar University of Manila and then as a DDS graduate from University of California San Francisco. He has been in the Ruddell Road practice since 2004 and is so pleased to be a part of the Light Dental Studios family.

Aside from doing dentistry, he is a National Chess Master and a musician. He belongs to a musical band where he plays bass and is a vocalist. He is also an alternate keyboardist.
