Dr. Joseph Kang

Joseph Kang, D.D.S., is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Light Dental Studios, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to patient care. Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Kang moved to the greater Seattle area during high school. He earned his undergraduate degree in behavioral neuroscience from Western Washington University in Bellingham before pursuing his doctorate of dental surgery (D.D.S) at New York University in Manhattan.

During his dental education, Dr. Kang developed a passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery, drawn to its complexity and the opportunity to help patients through both surgery and comprehensive care. After earning his dental degree, he completed a surgical internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, followed by a four-year residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. There, he gained extensive training in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery with a particular emphasis on anesthesia and patient safety.

Dr. Kang is proficient in a variety of surgical techniques, specializing in wisdom teeth extractions and dental implants; this also includes difficult dental extractions, bone grafting for both the upper and lower jaws, and the management of oral pathology and facial infections. His expertise in sedation and anesthesia also ensures that he provides the highest level of comfort and care throughout the treatment.

After nearly a decade of education and training in New York City, Dr. Kang returned to Washington State, where he now serves the local community as a trusted oral surgeon.

Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Kang enjoys cooking, often drawing inspiration from his Korean heritage and French and Italian influence to create new homemade meals. He also loves hiking with his dog, Nico, and exploring the expansive outdoors.
